Terms of Service

1. Introduction

Welcome to AfriAcademy ("we," "us," or "our"), an educational platform offering online courses in digital marketing, AI, entrepreneurship, and more. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of our website (www.afri-academy.com), services, and content (collectively, the "Services"). By accessing or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our Services.

2. Scope

These Terms apply to all users, including registered students, visitors, and those accessing our Services via third-party integrations (e.g., Google Sign-Up). We are based in Cameroon, and these Terms are governed by Cameroonian law, including Law No. 2010/021 on Cybersecurity and Cybercrime, as well as applicable international laws.

3. Eligibility

To use our Services, you must:

  • Be at least 13 years old. Users under 18 require parental consent.
  • Provide accurate and complete registration information.
  • Not be barred from using similar services under applicable laws.

4. Account Registration

4.1 Account Creation

You may register using your email and password or via Google Sign-Up. You agree to:

  • Provide true, current, and complete information.
  • Keep your password secure and confidential.
  • Notify us immediately of unauthorized access at support@afri-academy.com.

4.2 Account Responsibility

You are responsible for all activities under your account. We are not liable for losses due to unauthorized use unless caused by our negligence.

5. Use of Services

5.1 Permitted Use

You may use our Services for personal, non-commercial educational purposes. This includes accessing courses, completing assignments, and participating in community features.

5.2 Prohibited Use

You may not:

  • Copy, distribute, or reproduce course content without permission.
  • Use the Services for illegal activities or to harm others.
  • Attempt to hack, disrupt, or overload our systems.
  • Create multiple accounts to exploit promotions or bypass restrictions.

6. Intellectual Property

All content on our Services (e.g., courses, videos, text) is owned by AfriAcademy or our licensors and protected by copyright and intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access content for personal use only. Unauthorized reproduction or distribution is prohibited.

7. Payments and Refunds

7.1 Fees

Some courses require payment. Fees are displayed in XAF (Central African CFA Franc) or your local currency where applicable. You agree to pay all charges at the time of purchase.

7.2 Refunds

Refunds are available within 14 days of purchase if you have not accessed more than 10% of the course content. Contact support@afri-academy.com to request a refund.

8. User Content

You may submit content (e.g., comments, assignments). You retain ownership but grant us a worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute it for educational purposes. You warrant that your content does not infringe third-party rights.

9. Third-Party Services

We use third-party services (e.g., Google OAuth, payment processors). These providers have their own terms and privacy policies, which you agree to when using their integration with our Services.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

  • Violate these Terms.
  • Engage in fraudulent or harmful behavior.

You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us. Upon termination, your access to paid content ends, and no refunds are issued for unused periods.

11. Disclaimers

Our Services are provided "as is." We do not guarantee:

  • Uninterrupted access.
  • Accuracy or completeness of content.
  • Specific educational outcomes.

We are not liable for losses due to external factors (e.g., internet outages).

12. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by Cameroonian law, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Services in the past 12 months. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of the Services or violation of these Terms.

14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Cameroon. Disputes will be resolved through negotiation or, if necessary, in the courts of Doaula, Cameroon. For international users, arbitration may be pursued under UNCITRAL rules at our discretion.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms. Significant changes will be notified via email or on our website at least 30 days in advance. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

16. Force Majeure

We are not liable for delays or failures due to events beyond our control (e.g., natural disasters, government actions).

18. Miscellaneous
